Managing Partial Shipments for Cabinet Projects

Partial shipments can support a site's sequence, but they need clear boundaries.

Managing Partial Shipments for Cabinet Projects

Partial shipments can support a site's sequence, but they need clear boundaries. Track what was promised, packed, dispatched, received, and still outstanding at room or assembly level. A job-level shipped flag is too coarse when deliveries happen in stages.

Define the shipment

  • Identify the approved shipment scope and any excluded items.
  • Check whether the delivered assemblies can be installed without missing dependencies.
  • Assign a shipment reference and package-level manifest.
  • Keep remaining quantities and commitments visible after dispatch.

A dependency example

A hypothetical shipment contains cabinet boxes but lacks the required installation hardware. It may be physically complete as a truckload while operationally incomplete for the installer. Confirm the receiver's requirements before treating partial dispatch as progress.

Review extra handling

Compare the benefit of early delivery with freight, storage, handling, and return-visit costs. Partial shipping should serve the project plan, not merely clear floor space.

How Millbase can help your shop

Make production conversations specific

A woodworking schedule is easier to review when the team can see the work already recorded. Millbase Floor Pulse shows active workers, projects, workstations, and elapsed time. Pair it with project records to discuss a delayed cabinet order with the people and work behind it, and compare logged labour with the estimate.

Ask the Millbase AI agent a question grounded in your workspace records. For example: “Who is working on this project, at which workstations, and how many hours have been recorded?” You can select a project or worker, ask follow-up questions, and request supported reports and CSV exports.

Use the breakdown to prepare the next production conversation. Current activity and recorded hours are evidence for planning; they do not by themselves prove that an assembly has passed inspection or is ready to ship.
